Forwarding SMS to Slack keeps your team notified without anyone needing to check a separate phone. Set up a dedicated #sms-inbox channel and have every incoming text appear there automatically.

Step 1: Create a Slack Incoming Webhook

Fwrdly uses Slack’s Incoming Webhooks to post messages to channels.

  1. Go to api.slack.com/apps on your computer or phone browser
  2. Click “Create New App” → “From scratch”
  3. Name it Fwrdly and select your workspace → “Create App”
  4. In the left sidebar click “Incoming Webhooks”
  5. Toggle “Activate Incoming Webhooks” to ON
  6. Click “Add New Webhook to Workspace”
  7. Select the channel you want to post to (e.g. #sms-inbox) → “Allow”
  8. Copy the Webhook URL — it looks like https://hooks.slack.com/services/T.../B.../...

Step 2: Add Slack as a Destination in Fwrdly

  1. Open Fwrdly on your iPhone
  2. Tap “Add destination”
  3. Select Slack
  4. Paste the Webhook URL
  5. Optionally name it (e.g. “Team SMS channel”)
  6. Tap Save

Step 3: Enable Forwarding

Toggle “Enable forwarding” to ON in Fwrdly. Send a test SMS to your iPhone — it should appear in your Slack channel within seconds.

What Messages Look Like in Slack

Each forwarded SMS appears as a Slack message formatted like:

The sender’s name (if saved in your contacts) and phone number are included.

Forwarding to a Slack DM

To forward to yourself as a DM instead of a channel:

  1. Go to Direct Messages in your Slack app
  2. Click your own name
  3. Open the Webhook setup and select your name instead of a channel
